Gitano el Labrador

I arived home at 10 pm with Jairo and Jamie. We had not had dinner. We got a pizza from Joe on our way home. It had been a crazy week. As I open the garage door this dog came charging in the marquesina. Ford did not know what hit him. Jaime proceeded to open the house and I proceeded to get things out of the car. By the time I knew what was happening the dog was jumping on my couch. He seemed glad to be home. The only thing wrong was this was not his home. I was sure the dog belonged to someone close by. I grabed a dog leash and chased him around. He did not want to go! I finally got a hold of him and drug him out to see who his owner was. I was sure I would see someone walking down the street calling his dog. I did not see anyone. I walked to the corner store to ask if they knew who he belonged to. The told me exactly where he lived. It was 2 blocks away and I had a hot pizza getting cold. I drug him down the street to his home. When I arrived to the house the children were outside. I asked the kid if it was his dog and he said he had a labrador but it died a few months ago and that was not his dog and then burst out laughing. I asked him what was so funny. He then told me that his mom was in the bedroom changing sheets since he pulled the same trick by running in the house with muddy paws and jumped from bed to bed. I guess that was his modus operandi. I wish I could understand dog talk but I think he had a home and the owner just dropped him off far from home. I searched for weeks not believing someone could be so cruel to this poor puppy. I posted at all the veterinarian offices in the area. I put lost dog ad on the radio sation. I went to the police station knowing someone would report that they lost their pet. I was a month and I could not find the owner. That just leads me to thing that he was not wanted. He is a very sweet dog but you know how labs are. CRAZY! I finally decided to find him a home. No one wanted him. He was driving me crazy here at home since I have Jairo and Ford. Finally Thanks to Maggie Bobb from El Vocero I found him a home. It was a very hard decision choosing who would take the dog. I had more than 40 people interested in him. Some people for the wrong reasons but none the less they were interested. Most would have been wonderful homes. I finally chose someone from Vega Baja who wanted him for search and rescue. I thought that is what that dog needed was a job! That should keep him busy. I sometimes wonder if I chose the correct person. I hope I did. When I met with the man to turn him over to his new owner all I could do was cry. I wish I had accommodations for him so I could keep him. Oh well you know me. I would keep all of them if I could. This post is dedicated to Gitano the Labrador who was a real gypsy going from home to home. I hope he has a real home now. Picture of Gitanos new owner.
